The last mile is defined by the distance between the stops of a
public transportation and its passengers’ destination. This is an
avoidable issue for those who only takes public transporta-tion
in a daily basis. problems within the last mile often happened to
be: inefficient, unsafe, and unattractive. The project’s proposal
resonates with the theme “getting here, going there”, as it is
attempting to fix the common problems within the last mile
of transportation. The pro-ject focused on the “last miles”
occurred within north campus to central campus. By analyzing
each UMICH bus stops and their surrounding buildings such as
school, houses, retails, and hos-pitals, 4 schemes have been
produced to envision possible solutions to these “last miles”.
